The goals of IVS are:

  • To provide a service to support geodetic, geophysical and astrometric research and operational activities.
  • To interact with the community of users of VLBI products and to integrate VLBI into a global Earth observing system.
  • To promote research and development activities in all aspects of the geodetic and astrometric VLBI technique.

Abstract submission and registration opened for the Sixth IVS General Meeting.

IYA09 Very Large Astrometry Session (October 23)
A Web page for the Very Large Astrometry Session for the International Year of Astronomy 2009 has been added. This session will be observed on November 18.

August Newsletter (August 18)
The August issue of the IVS Newsletter was posted on the Web site and the print version will be sent to the IVS mailing list in the next days. The main feature in this issue is about Pulkovo Observatory.

2008 Annual Report (August 6)
The 2008 Annual Report was posted on the Web site. The report is being printed and will be mailed to IVS Associate Members and Corresponding Members in the next few weeks.

Design Aspects of the VLBI2010 System (May 11)
A Progress Report of the VLBI2010 Committee entitled Design Aspects of the VLBI2010 System was posted. The report covers the progress made up to April 2009. A version of this report is included in the 2008 IVS Annual Report.
